Designing for a Purpose

Shannon Sharpe Restaurant

One of the best things about graphic design is that you can take something comedic/goofy and make it professional. I did this in honor of one of my favorite people in the world and the funniest man on TV. This is based on a running joke on the FS1 show Undisputed where he owns his own restaurant and he serves athletes a cold dub (win) or hot L (loss), haha. I wondered to myself, "What would this restaurant look like if it was real?"

His personality and likeness is definitely the theme of it. All of my design choices are based on aspects of his life and subtle details he’s mentioned about the restaurant on the show. The way he describes the restaurant lends itself to being more like a sports bar. I wanted to get this feeling across by using san serif, bold, and blocky typefaces.

I chose orange and navy blue as primary colors because he played for the Denver Broncos for most of his professional football career. He’s also in the Professional Football Hall of Fame. Inducted players receive gold jackets at the induction ceremony. I felt it would be a nice tie-in to use gold as an accenting color. The gold outer ring of the logo represents the culmination of his football career.
